DUJEOUS & AMALGAM DIGITAL PRESENT THE CATCH-UP (IT’S BEEN A LONG TIME EDITION)

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

From the desk of Dujeous producer/bassist Apex, 1/7/10

Wsup peoples:

Happy New Year, everybody! Sorry we’ve been so MIA over here.  Nonetheless, thank you for all the incredible love and support you showed Dujeous in 2009. From “Break Bread” to No Clearance to “Spectacular,” you guys were with us every step of the way. And 2010 is gonna be even better: a new album finally dropping, more new music to follow, new videos in the works, new tour dates in new places. But it all starts this Friday, January 8th, with a show in NYC. We’ll be joined by two other dope hip-hop bands, Riot in Paris and Metrosonics. Riot in Paris, produced by beatmaker extraordinaire and Dujeous fam Devo Springsteen (John Legend, Kanye, Nas), are a brash rock-rap hybrid; Metrosonics, helmed by our old friend guitarist/MC Paul Josephs, mashes together those genres and more with top-notch musicianship and mind-bending poetry. Plus the homie Smoke DZA will be making a special appearance, rocking his underground smash “Marley and Me.” Check some behind-the-scenes footage for that video, featuring Currensy, Devin the Dude and Asher Roth right here. And trust that Dujeous is gonna come with our own new songs, new guests, and new tricks for the new decade. The details:

DUJEOUS PRESENTS THE CATCH-UP (FREE SHOW EDITION)

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

newdujlogo.jpg

–From The Desk of Mojo The Cinematic 7/16/09

What up webslingers? Alot is going on in the world of the Duj this week. 1st off, DUJEOUS marked a milestone by submitting for our 1st ever GRAMMY awards! The LP  hasn’t dropped yet, but our 1st single BREAK BREAD was eligible & now we’re being considered in 3 categories: Best Urban/Alternative Performance, Best Song By A Rap Group (or Duo), and the coveted Best New Artist. Cross your fingers, y’all.

Also, The Duj’s very own secret weapon DAVE GUY was back in town for our Mercury Lounge show last week. He tore the roof off as usual, and later this week I rolled over to the DUNHAM studios in BK to sit in on his session with hit-maker SWIZZ BEATZ. Big shouts to Swizz & his uncle for being all around cool brothers, and crafting some truly funky shit with the Menahan St. crew. Peace to Tommy TNT & Homer…the Duj needs some studio time, fellas!

Thanks to that studio, The Guy is also currently heard on 2 of the most buzzed about tracks of the summer: 50 CENT’S “TALKING IN CODES” (From his War Angel LP) and KID CUDI’S “MR. SOLO DOLO” (From his upcoming G.O.O.D Music debut). Amazingly, those 2 joints have the same sample! Crazy!

I hope y’all are all enjoying the weather this season. If there’s one thing that I love about NYC in the summertime, it’s all the free concerts. This summer alone, we’ll get to see free sets from Q-Tip & Big Daddy Kane not to mention Roxanne Shante, Biz Markie, Grand Puba (Brand Nubian), UGod (Wu-Tang), Cormega, Sean Price, Bishop Lamont, Masta Ace & Edo.G , Tanya Morgan, DJ JS-1 , and DUJEOUS all on the same bill at this year’s ROCKSTEADY ANNIVERSARY (More Info on that show next week…) In the meantime, we’ll open up the free hip-hop season with a crazy line-up at Highline Ballroom in NYC tomorrow night. All info below. Stay Cool…

DUJEOUS & AMALGAM DIGITAL PRESENT: THE CATCH-UP (Vol. 8)

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

Dujeous x Tenacious D

(From the desk of Dujeous producer/bassist Apex Tech 6/4/09)

This is a super-duper Amalgam exclusive, just for y’all. A few weekends ago Dujeous made an up-north trip. No, not that kind, this time at least (knock on wood). We went upstate to chill at a homie’s crib in the mountains, with the birds and the trees and other natural stuff. The weekend involved a lot of beer, barbeque, basketball (he has a makeshift hoop), and some, er, botany. In our stupor, a few movies were watched, somehow. One of em was the Tenacious D vehicle Pick of Destiny, which features this classic scene/song, best enjoyed twisted full of burgers.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oa7-xXGavq4

Then we watched (pre-emptive pause) Black Snake Moan, which featured this song from the Black Keys:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KwiyiFkQmg

Thoughts clashed, one thing led to another, somehow the mic got set up outside, and somehow this insanity was recorded:

“POWERFUL”
Click above to download, or go here: http://sharebee.com/b16a602a

Mojo the Cinematic and special guest Jigsaw the Puzzler on the verses, Tom Pizzle on the hook, and Taylormade on the beat. Enjoy.

DUJEOUS & AMALGAM DIGITAL PRESENT: THE CATCH-UP (WEEK 5)

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

From the desk of Dujeous bassist/producer Apex Tech, 5/13/2009

It must be Christmas ’round these parts—we’ve got TWO goodies for you in one week. We’ll keep it quick, ’cause we’re feeling lazy and there’s a lot of content to show y’all. First up, we’ve posted the final section of our two-part interview with multiplatinum Grammy-nominated engineer Ryan West, who, as you may recall, has worked with Kanye West, Just Blaze, Dr. Dre, and T.I. In this installment, Ryan talks about his incredible work with Dujeous (that’s us, for the slower cats) on our forthcoming album Day In Day Out.

And, ’cause we’re a generous bunch, we’re leaking a little freestyle for you too. “Three Wise Men” features the Dujeous MCs, Mas D, Rheturik and Mojo, going in over Minnie Riperton’s classic “Rainy Day in Centerville.” Click below to download it for free:

3 WISE MEN

DUJEOUS & AMALGAM DIGITAL PRESENT: THE CATCH-UP (VOL. 2)

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

dujtop

(From the desk of Dujeous producer/bassist Apex Tech 6/23/09)

Wdup good peoples:

A lot of people talk shit about Dujeous, the illest hip-hop band in New York, but one thing you can’t say is that we aren’t generous. Last week, in our first Amalgam blog, we gave you a free download of both videos from our latest single, “Break Bread” b/w “Research.” And now, this week we’ve got an exclusive song for you, premiering right here on AmalgamDigital.com. If you’ve been following the random Duj status updates on Twitter or Facebook, you know that we devour good television cliffhangers, from Lost to 24. In that spirit, we present to you:

“BEYOND IMAGINATION”

BEYOND IMAGINATION

Download HERE and spread the word.

Heads paying attention will notice the Fringe sample—another one of our favorite shows. But you don’t have to know the show to enjoy it—this joint goes *in*.

MOJO THE CINEMATIC (of DUJEOUS) & JIGSAW THE PUZZLER SPIT LIVE FROM NYC

(ABOVE: MOJO THE CINEMATIC & JIGSAW THE PUZZLER SPIT LIVE @ CLUB 205 IN NYC)

The song features Duj frontman Mojo the Cinematic and Duj affiliate Jigsaw the Puzzler, who killed it at the crazy End of the Weak MC challenge this past Sunday. Go to http://www.eodub.com/eodubtv.html to view the event online and vote for your favorite MC.

Special shouts to Donwill of Tanya Morgan. Fringe actress Jasika Nicole (who plays Astrid) recently appeared in his new video “Laura’s Song,” and we’re still jealous.

See you next Thursday, homies…
