Pen-N-Pixel: A Trip Down Memory Lane...

| Thursday, November 13, 2008

How many of these do you all remember.  I remember ALOT of 'em.  Pen and Pixel looked cool to me for about 2 months.  Then, everything went overboard.  I remember my personal jump-the-shark point working at Target. Every CD I stocked was pen-and-pixel.  One in particular was by a kat named Big Bear and it had a picture of him and some grizzly bears drinking champagne.  It was fucking HILARIOUS!

Above is a link with hundreds of these.  They did NOT age well. I love ALOT of Southern hip-hop. I've been a Dungeon Fam head since '94, a Scarface and Geto Boys fan not soon after, etc. etc. I even dug that early No Limit shit WITH the pen-and-pixel album covers..but, man, I could not ride for this shit. Sorry.

I wanna start writing about corny No Limit movies now, but I'll have to hold off for another thread on that one.

On a side note, I'm in NY for the next couple of weeks running around...anyone here know some fly shit to check out?
Anything coming up I should know about? (doesn't even have to be hip-hop related) LEMME KNOW    :)

Pen and Pixel made more than 19,000 covers! Each one of them different. 6000 customers' each their own idea of what was cool! Creative minds, meet ultimate "over the topness". Kings of Bling! We were doing something right!
