Amalgam Digital Presents
“Cream of The Crop”
Starring YOUNG RIOT as “MR. CLEAN”
Enter a world where rap music has lost the creative wonder that once catapulted the hip-hop genre to unchartered domains. Fans are hungry for the transcendent music they deserve, and one burgeoning young artist is ready to deliver it. In Young Riot’s groundbreaking cinematic narrative, “Cream of the Crop (Mr. Clean),” the Boston emcee enlightens us with a compelling short video that complements his debut solo track of the same name and introduces the world to a pioneering display of just how far the boundaries of music can be pushed. The flagship—and first previously unsigned—Amalgam Digital artist highlights a shockingly graphic artistic endeavor that parallels his monumental foray into rap superstardom to the rarely exposed old world Mafia initiation rituals lacking from today’s gangster film genre. Directed by James Del Gatto, “Cream of the Crop” is an aggressive affirmation of the sustained innovation and excitement that the Amalgam Digital brand continues to build itself upon, and its abundance of blood and brutality, coupled with an overarching commitment to originality, is sure to leave fans chomping at the bit for Riot’s next creative offering. This riveting cinematic challenges artists to oppose the norms imposed on today’s hip-hop world, while ultimately encouraging viewers that an inimitable boss has arrived, and his name is Young Riot.
A whirlwind of news hit yesterday of the legendary Guru of Gang Starr suffering a heart attack this weekend and undergoing surgery today in NYC. In dedication to the Ill Kid, DJ Wonder put together this mixtape of the live set he did for Guru out of respect.
This is a dope mix and serves better than I posting of bunch of favorites of mine since several of them are included in this mix. Also there is our insightful interview with Guru & Solar from late 2008 here (http://www.amalgamdigital.com/blog/creative-zen/2008/12/18/).

“If you’d told me that I’d be dropping a tape with DJ Doo Wop that featured exclusive tracks from some of New York’s finest back when I started Unkut Dot Com six years ago, I would have told you to stop smoking that shit. I’ve been through some ups and downs over that time, but Unkut has always held me down regardless. This is a small token of my appreciation to everyone who has supported and stuck by the site and kept things moving.” – via Unkut.com

“A few years back, my man Tony Baines hit me with this beat while in Cali! As we inhaled the ism we saw a vision that took place over the theme from “Shaft!” It truly feels GOOD to see people embrace my concept & I view this record as a defining moment for the year of the G! Davy Greenberg reached out to a G & told me what he saw as far as bringing this joint to life & I accepted his beliefs! Here is “Momentum” off of my “Respect My Come Up – Volume 1 – Pimp Dilemmas” project! The wait is over family, Love, Life & Loyalty is due out this summer! Church on the move!” – GLC
