Movie Review: Inglourious Basterds

Saturday, August 22nd, 2009

BasterdsRating:  4 out of 5

Synopsis: During the Second World War, in a Nazi occupied France; the stories of a grieving Jewish theater owner (Laurent) and a group of top-secret American-Jewish soldiers led by a Lt. Aldo Raine (Pitt) become intertwined. Little do they know, but these patrons of the war have more in common than they think. They both are seeking revenge and looking to kill some Nazis.

Release Date: August 21, 2009                                              Trailer: Click Here

Get Tickets: MovieTickets.com

Director: Quentin Tarantino           Starring: Brad Pitt, Eli Roth, Diane Kruger, Melanie Laurent, Christoph Waltz

Rating: R (for strong graphic violence, language, and brief sexuality)

Genre: Action/Adventure

Review: Inglourious Basterds is one of those movies that leaves you unsure of what you just witnessed, but after you manage to catch your breath, you realize that you just watched an amazing movie. Despite some of the flaws of this film, specifically some of the “extended” scenes of dialogue, the movie was superb. Even though there were some extensive scenes of conversation, they were in fact interesting and helped build the personalities of some of the characters in the film. So, basically, even the flaws of the film weren’t really flaws. Pitt, Roth, and especially Waltz, who played the deceiving German Colonel known as the “Jew Hunter” who enjoyed to toy with his victims before killing them, were excellent and gave the film comic relief, believe it or not. By far, the best film of the summer.

2.      G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra
